This is an edible plant. The stems were eaten raw or cooked by the Okanagon, Yakama, and Thompson. The fresh or dried leaves were used as a spice, and the flowers, leaves, stems, and green fruits were used to make tea by the Okanagon. Seeds were used as insect repellent, perfume and medicine by the Yakama
